Good news for online sellers using Paypal |
|
|
|
Paypal account is now optional for buyers on your site.
I've often been asked by clients what is the easiest way I know to accept payments online. Every time I would set up an online store for a customer, I would also invariably get the same question. I have always recommended Paypal , both as an online buying tool and as a means to accept payments online. In the past, however, the most common complaint against Paypal is that buyers were required to have their own Paypal account when paying through Paypal. This proved to be a deterrent most of the time and I have had tales of abandoned shopping cart woes because of this.
Recently, I found out that it is now possible to have your online buyers pay through your Paypal account without having them sign up for their own Paypal account.
According to the Paypal website, the new payment flow works as follows:
- Customers enter their name and shipping address.
- They’re prompted for their credit card, email address, and phone number.
- (Optional) After reviewing their information, they may choose to
save their information by creating a PayPal account to make future
transactions faster."
This is a great boost to online sellers using Paypal
(like me) as it increases the likelihood that a potential buyer would
continue with the transaction even if he is not a Paypal account holder
himself.
If you're an online seller and are not using Paypal yet, I suggest you head on to Paypal now and create your account to start using Paypal as one of your online payment options.
